Chemical and Polymer Manufacturing Engineering Positions:
Sasol hires engineers with bachelor’s degrees for project and process-related work. All engineering disciplines are needed in our industrial business, including Chemical, Manufacturing, Production and Process, Mechanical and Electrical, Pipeline Distribution, Environmental / Regulatory Engineers and Civil Engineers. Depending on the position, specialty engineering experience (like within our LLDPE - LDPE Manufacturing and Processing), is often required.
Chemical Engineers, Chemists and Lab Analysts
Chemists work in the Research and Development facility as well as in our Quality Control and Quality Assurance laboratories. Chemists with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees are often needed in a variety of specialty areas to support our processes and product lines. Additionally, lab analysts with experience and/or an associate’s or bachelor's degree are needed in these facilities.
Operations / Production Engineers
Sasol North American Operations' various chemical processes are controlled by operations personnel. Operators work shift work and perform a wide range of duties such as loading products, checking gauges in the operating units and controlling the manufacturing processes using computerized Distributed Control Systems. Qualified applicants for operations must score well on a pre-employment exam and generally have petrochemical or refinery experience with a process technology associate’s degree.
Maintenance Engineers
Maintenance employees include machinists, instrumentation technicians and electricians. Other maintenance crafts are supplied by contract companies. Machinists, instrumentation technicians and electricians seeking employment with Sasol must score well on a pre-employment exam and will preferably have a national accreditation in the craft in which they are seeking employment. Depending on the position and job market, training may be provided by the company.
Professional & Support Personnel
As with any large organization, Sasol requires a professional and support personnel to maintain its operations. Positions such as safety professionals, environmental specialists, accountants, human resources representatives, inspectors, sales and marketing staff, information management professionals, clerks, logistics and purchasing agents are a necessity.
